Bungie Aims to Broaden Marathon's Appeal with New PvE Modes

Marathon developer Bungie plans to refresh the game for Season 2 and beyond, focusing on PvE gameplay.

Bungie has announced its intentions to breathe new life into Marathon as it gears up for Season 2. While specific details remain scarce, the studio is set to introduce significant gameplay adjustments. The upcoming changes will see a heightened emphasis on PvE gameplay, with game director Joe Ziegler revealing plans for two experimental modes. The first mode, launching early in the season, will blend PvE with a hint of PvP, while the second mode, arriving later, will be a PvE-exclusive experience centered on cooperative play and achieving objectives as a team.

Ziegler emphasized that the goal is to transform Marathon into a more diverse and relaxing gaming experience. The focus is on providing players with alternative ways to enjoy the game, particularly during moments of high tension or when seeking a more laid-back gaming session.
