Battlefield 6 emerged as the top-selling game of 2025, surpassing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and NBA 2K26 by selling over seven million copies within three days. Despite its remarkable success, EA made staff cuts in March 2026, shortly after the game's triumphant launch, to realign around community priorities. In a recent SEC filing, it was disclosed that CEO Andrew Wilson's total earnings for the 2026 fiscal year amounted to $38,649,984, marking an $8 million increase from the previous year, attributed to Battlefield 6's achievements.
The filing attributes EA's ability to achieve its goals to Battlefield 6's strong sales, citing the game's high-quality launch, positive reviews, and stable services. Despite mixed feedback, the game continues to expand its content, with an upcoming collaboration with Top Gun in Season 4, featuring fighter jets and character skins from the movie. IGN's interview with Ariel Giovannetti from Battlefield Studios highlighted the team's responsiveness to player feedback and their commitment to evolving the game according to community desires.
Additionally, EA's recent acquisition by a private investor group in a $55 billion deal, led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, solidified the company's ownership. This significant move follows EA's strategic steps to navigate the gaming industry landscape.
