Despite the first movie's massive success, negotiations between Warner Bros. and the key talent have hit a standstill, jeopardizing the future of the project.
The impasse stems from disagreements over financial terms, with Warner Bros. offering profit shares and salary increases to the returning cast and crew. However, CEO David Zaslav reportedly finds these terms too generous, leading to a deadlock in the negotiations.
If an agreement isn't reached by December, the rights to the Barbie movie franchise will revert back to Mattel, potentially leading to the project's continuation at another studio without the original creative team.
