Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender Director's Comic Con Panel Highlights

While showing off an early concept photo of the aged-up Team Avatar at a San Diego Comic-Con panel, director Lauren Montgomery recalled the film's earliest leaks. She discussed character design, animation style choices, and the creation of a new written language for the Avatar universe.

Montgomery shared anecdotes about leaks, including an image known as the 'Avengers shot' that was repainted to prevent leaks but still got out. She then delved into early character design concepts, highlighting changes made before the final version. Co-creator Bryan Konietzko discussed the decision to keep the animation style 2D, emphasizing the importance of honoring the series' roots in Japanese anime.

Konietzko also revealed the creation of a new written language, Avatarian, inspired by Hangul. The panel unveiled the first trailer for 'Avatar: Seven Havens,' announced a new playable character in 'Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game,' and shared details about the movie's soundtrack and an upcoming art book release.
