Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Releases Playable Sea Shanties

Ahead of its release next month, Ubisoft has released a playable part of Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced online--playable sea shanties, that is.

Ubisoft has made a part of Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced available online in advance of the game's upcoming launch. This segment features playable sea shanties, including the original tracks from the game, new compositions, and an unreleased version of The Parting Glass by Sarah Greene. The collection comprises 57 shanties that players can enjoy on their next virtual voyage. The original game required players to unlock shanties by locating and catching glowing pieces of sheet music, which the crew would then sing while sailing. Additionally, a companion app for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag allowed players to take these tunes on the go. Although the app is no longer available, fans can now access the shanties through various streaming platforms.

The Black Flag soundtrack was recorded in Montreal by a group of folk singers and musicians, offering a catchy selection of sailing songs. The music production for the game involved musician and professor David Gossage, who tailored the in-world music to suit the game's setting. The singers hired for the shanties had to adjust their singing to sound like sailors rather than a polished choir. Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced is set to launch on July 9 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with preorders already open. The remake will bring a mix of graphical enhancements and quality-of-life updates, sparking varied opinions among fans.
