Ubisoft has revealed a real-life treasure hunt inspired by Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, offering a $500,000 prize hidden in the Caribbean. The treasure, named 'The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway,' consists of specially-minted solid gold coins worth $350,000 and a rock crystal skull adorned with a red opal jewel valued at $150,000, paying homage to the game's storyline.
To claim the prize, participants must solve 15 intricate riddles in a collaboration with Unsolved Hunts, a treasure hunt company. While the puzzles are themed around Black Flag, no prior knowledge of the game is required. Access to clues starts at £31 (about $41), with different packages available, including a physical version of the clues and trinkets up to a Pirate Lord Pack edition priced at £177 (approximately $240).
The treasure hunt, set to start on November 9, is expected to be a lengthy experience, with puzzles estimated to take between two and five years to solve. Teams are encouraged to participate, but an individual must be nominated to claim the prize. The hunt is designed for remote participation, although the actual treasure is hidden in the Caribbean, requiring a valid passport for the eventual winner.
