Ideally, the people involved with adapting a celebrated media franchise should be quite familiar with said franchise. But the actor bringing Link to life in the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has a pretty good excuse for not experiencing a top-rated game of the series--at least when it launched.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, 17, the actor playing Link in the live-action Zelda movie, revealed that he was too young to play Breath of the Wild when it was released in 2017. He mentioned that he didn't own a Switch at the time but watched others play it. Ainsworth, born in September 2008, acknowledged that at eight years old, owning a console might have been considered too young by some parents.
Despite missing out on playing Breath of the Wild initially, Ainsworth has since delved into the Zelda series, appreciating its legacy and varied elements. The upcoming Zelda movie, set to release on April 30, 2027, may draw inspiration from different entries in the series, hinting at a fresh take on the franchise's timeline and mythology.
