Splitgate developer 1047 Games has announced Empluse, a 'Titanfall-inspired movement shooter' expected to release into early access later this year.
1047 Games, the developer behind Splitgate, is shifting its focus to Empluse, described as a Titanfall-inspired movement shooter. While continuing to support Splitgate, the team considers Empluse its main priority moving forward. Drawing inspiration from games like Titanfall 2 and Black Ops 3, as well as non-shooting games such as SSX Tricky, Empluse aims to deliver a dynamic gameplay experience with wall running, grappling, sliding, and bouncing mechanics.
Empluse will incorporate a paint mechanic reminiscent of Portal 2, introducing P.A.I.N.T. Bombs for speed and jump boosts. The game emphasizes mobility, ensuring players are constantly on the move for an engaging and enjoyable experience. Despite the new direction, 1047 Games remains true to its Portal roots, offering a fresh take on the movement shooter genre.
Following the mixed reception of Splitgate 2, 1047 Games made the decision to 'unlaunch' the game and implement significant changes. The reimagined version was relaunched as a free-to-play title on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, reflecting the studio's commitment to delivering what players truly desire in a game.
