The new James Bond game, 007 First Light, has passed 3 million sales, with the CEO confirming that the $200 million budget includes more than just development costs.
IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak revealed that the $200 million budget for 007 First Light covers various expenses beyond development, such as bonuses for developers, marketing, and more. Despite being the most expensive project from Denmark-based IO Interactive, Abrak assured that the game's actual development cost is lower. He expressed confidence in the game's profitability, noting that it is exceeding internal expectations.
Regarding a potential sequel, Amazon's acquisition of MGM and the James Bond series could impact the future of the franchise. While Amazon will handle publishing for a sequel, the involvement of IO Interactive remains uncertain. Abrak hinted at forthcoming updates on the collaboration between IO and Amazon. He also mentioned a strategy to reduce costs for potential sequels, citing the decreasing budgets of Hitman sequels as an example.
Additionally, 007 First Light is scheduled to receive a Switch 2 edition and significant new content expansions later this year.
